Our recommendation to protect your organisation against the Petya Ransomware
We strongly advise you to take the following actions:
- Apply the patch published by Windows update MS17-010
- Limit the use of accounts that are ‘local administrator’
- Double-Check every email attachment before opening it
- Scan all incoming and outgoing emails to detect threats and filter executable files from reaching end users
- Upgrade/Update Trend Micro Officescan Anti-Virus
- Disable the outdated protocol SMBv1
- On the firewall, deploy IPS, AV, Web Filtering technologies and keep them updated
- Backup your data regularly with Veeam. Verify the integrity of those backups, encrypt them and test the restoration process to ensure it is working
